At the end of 2017 the road toll in country and regional areas of NSW was at an unfortunate peak with more and more young people being injured and killed on roads.

With funding from the NSW Government’s Safer Communities Fund, Blue Datto was given the opportunity to join forces with local schools and communities across NSW in an effort to help protect young lives and create safer communities within regional areas.

Throughout the year the Blue Datto Bus travelled to Byron, Ballina, Albury, the Upper Hunter, Central West and Wagga Wagga to deliver programs to young people and parents.

Our trip to each region took place over a three-day period and our Peer Mentors had a great time meeting new faces and sharing the story of ‘the Kid in the Blue Datto.’

As a result of the Regional Roadshow we reached more than 2,000 young people in regional areas!

We would like to thank the Department of Justice, our bus drivers Joe and Colleen Vassallo and Tim Northen, our adventurous Peer Mentors and the participating schools and participants for making this project possible.
