With thanks to the support of WestConnex, Blue Datto is pleased to launch the Safe Yourself program - a series of FREE interactive online modules to help young people reduce their risk as drivers and passengers.

Suitable for ALL young people aged 16 to 18, the Safe Yourself program will improve a young person's knowledge of road trauma and help them develop positive attitudes, behaviours and strategies to keep themselves, their mates and community safe.

Safe Yourself complements the learning outcomes of Blue Datto's award-winning Keeping Safe program, and makes the Foundation's potentially life-saving education accessible to a wider audience at a time when COVID-19 has significantly impacted school incursions.

Safe Yourself supports the delivery of the Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) curriculum and the Stage 6 Life Ready course in NSW, and explores key themes for young drivers including risk, distractions and speaking up.

After completing this program Learners will ….

  • have increased awareness of road safety issues for their age group;
  • be able to define common risk factors for young drivers and passengers;
  • understand the linked nature of choices, influences, responsibilities and outcomes;
  • appreciate the consequences of car crashes;
  • have improved ability to identify risk and problem solve when faced with risky situations;
  • possess an increased understanding of personal road safety in the context of social responsibility.

Safe Yourself is deliberately flexible in its application and can be delivered to support your existing Life Ready or similarly themed lessons, or as a stand-alone lesson/ activity to improve road safety sensibility and competence.
